ROAVR’s A-Team of Matt, Paul and Richard dig deep in the storms of 2018 to provide some awesome aerials for the Lacie Monster Hunter campaign directed by Alexander Farrell of RSA films with the DOP Josh Lunt.
ROAVR provide drone operators for the latest 007 James Bond blockbuster - No Time To Die.
Back in the Summer of 2017 ROAVR spent a wet few weeks hiding in Glasgow to nail some aerial shots for this great wee feature. Released in the UK in April 2019, ROAVR used the DJI Inspire 2 and X5s filming in Cinema DNG for the ultimate quality.
In April ROAVR sent two teams to the beautiful Isle of Skye to scout for locations for this wonderful music video for LS Productions and to support the shoot. It was a pleasure once again to work with LS Productions and GB Helicopters. The weather was kind to us and we think the final result looks ace!

Back in March 2019 we came to the rescue of German Band Lions & Balloons. They had headed over to Scotland to film their latest music video for ‘Save Me’.
Unfortunately they had some tech failures - ROAVR came to the rescue and nailed the shots in horrific wind and rain conditions.

Back in July 2017 ROAVR was delighted to be invited to the beautiful island of Islay to work on this piece for Bruichladdich Distillery with Maker TV.
We had an incredible few days in mediocre but moody weather! We stayed in the Distillery House and even got to sample a few drams.

Back in May 2018, we shot off to Harris to film the aerials for this awesome short highlighting the Autumn and Winter 2018 collection. Working with models in close proximity was challenging but great fun. The final edit is great!
In February 2017 we spent a lovely few days up in Helmsdale for Tweed Media following this keeper with a nice twist for a modern marketing campaign.
Hailed as a traditional deerstalking rifle, Rigby's new Highland Stalker is inspired by the same rifles we produced at the turn of the 20th century.
Rigby regard the Scottish Highlands as the birthplace of stalking and the title befitting the rifle.
The conditions were terribly windy but we managed to get some excellent shots!
For the late summer and autumn of 2016 our Director was aerial coordinator for the drone teams on Transformers 5 - The Last Knight which was shot at multiple locations across the U.K.
This involved some pretty tough and last minute planning!
The film screens in June 2017.
Back in early July 2017 we were asked to help Factory Films organise their Scottish shoot for the Love Great Britain / Visit Great Britain campaign.
ROAVR supplied a list of locations and contacts which lead on to a long days filming in July. The weather could not have been better! We started early in Glencoe and visited a number of sites that had meaning to Siobhan.
We ended the shoot on Channory Beach at Fortrose on The Black Isle and watched the Dolphins for a good 30 minutes after wrap. A great shoot with a great crew!
Siobhan Mackenzie is a multi-award winning Fashion Designer from the Highlands of Scotland.
Awarded ‘Best New Scottish Designer 2016’ we design Luxury Contemporary Fashion.
Following the success of our shoot with Factory Films in Scotland in July we teamed up with them again for the short to promote Wales. ROAVR has a base in Corwen in N Wales and a solid working knowledge of the North Wales geography. We therefore once again assisted with locations and logistics.
The shoot took place in early August and once again we nailed the weather! TV personality and Welsh legend Gethin Jones was followed from Caernarfon to Anglesey with some great locations.
Back in September, ROAVR deployed to the Central regions of Scotland to film for the acclaimed CBBC Drama Raven.
Raven is a multi-BAFTA-winning BBC Scotland children's adventure game show. It originally aired on CBBC in the United Kingdom from 16 December 2002 to March 2010, over the course of ten series, with three spin-offs. It was re-launched in December 2017 and is proving a massive hit!
Back in July 2017 ROAVR were approached to provide aerials for a new promotional video for Aigas Field StudiesCentre near Beauly. As the leading digital media supplier based in the Highland Capital City of Inverness we were only to happy to be involved.
After a production meeting we were chosen to provide a full package of ground and aerial filming.
In the late Summer of 2016 Andrew Crinson from Multirotorcraft approached us to assist with a fantastic drone swarm project fro Saatchi and Saatchi on behalf of Direct Line Insurance.
Andrew produced an autonomous drone swarm for the lighting and several larger platform to be 'in shot'.
We carried out all pre-flight planning and coordination and multiple locations across the South Downs in England.
The project was flown by The Helicopter Girls and Surface to Air Media for filming.
'Our achievements define us – racing is in our blood. It’s time to go back to where we came from and shape our future.'
ROAVR were contacted by Chrome Productions in London via our Friends at Light Colour Sound to rapidly deploy to North Wales to capture some very special shots.
We used our trusty Panasonic GH4 on a hexacopter.
In January 2017 we were approached to fly the usual high and wide aerials for the 2017 Winter Special. We also managed to squeeze in some of our favourite low and slow work! Watch as we track Ellie through the trees with our DJI Inspire Pro and X5r camera.
In November 2016 we rushed off to the beautiful Isle of Skye for LSL Productions.
We spent the day with our large hexacopter capturing some wicked aerials for Columbia Clothing and their new Directors of Toughness series.
During May 2016 we spent a couple of fantastic days out on the west coast near Clachtoll with Renegade Pictures and Dr. Torri Herridge for the 1st episode in the second series of Walking Through Time.
We had a great time and were blessed with awesome weather!
All filmed on the trusty Panasonic GH4.
Throughout 2016 we filmed and documented the construction of Edintore Wind Farm in Morayshire.
This project involved the erection of six of the largest turbines the area has seen. Lots of early mornings and late nights!
Here is a short clip of the full video.
The Quiraing is a landslip on the eastern face of Meall na Suiramach, the northernmost summit of the Trotternish on the Isle of Skye, Scotland.
The whole of the Trotternish Ridge escarpment was formed by a great series of landslips; the Quiraing is the only part of the slip still moving.
We filmed on this ridge on six separate occasions in 2016 and it is one of our favourite place in Scotland.
2016 was a fantastic year. 2017 will be even better! 2017 show reel coming in April.
Watch this space!
Here are some numbers:
5 Pilots
40 separate missions
110 flying days
45,000 miles travelled
6 aircraft flown
Back in 2015 we had the sad but pleasurable experience of filming the recovery of a stranded and drowned Humpback Whale off the coast line of Helmsdale in northern Scotland.
The whale's journey to the Celtic Deep form part of the documentary Britain's Whales and Britain's Sharks screened at Easter 2016.
Quite a cool project this one! Our Director was approached by our good friend Lec Park to cover shooting the openers for the two Scottish Episodes tx 10 and 11 in December 2016.
We had a great laugh over three days chasing cars, crashing into trees and flying over the tent.
Back in 2015 we deployed at short notice to Oban for a ferry to Mull and Coll. The mission? To film the presenter swimming with basking sharks.
The project was screened on The One Show a BBC magazine programme but the filming was for the Natural History Unit.
Flying from boats is always tricky but we are very experience in operating from sea due to our inspection operations in the Moray and Cromarty Firth's.
A truly fantastic few days and to see such creatures up close and personal was incredible.
In 2016 we worked for about 6 days shooting material for the forth coming Eradour Glenlivet promo which follows the construction of a new offshore pipeline facility. The production company was Signal 2 Noise.
Filming took place at Invergordon Port, Nigg Yard and Evanston Spool Base. The planning was unreal to get in and on all this high profile equipment and machinery.
There was even a night shoot of the spooling vessel leaving the Cromarty Firth. We can't wait to see the finished product!
In 2015 we were given a few weeks notice by our project partners Turkey Red Media in the central belt to capture aerials of the northern energy ports for this Scottish Development International short film.
The planning and processing was all done at short notice in very difficult operational environments in the worst August weather we have ever seen!
The end result edited by Soluis in Glasgow with the rushes delivered by hand at 1am in the morning! Phew.
In early 2016 we deployed a filming team around the whole U.K. over a 3-week period to capture stills and video for METKA - EGN to showcase their solar resource in the U.K.
This Greek company were fantastic to work with but the site really were challenging with lots of last minute permission to obtain and tricky flying conditions. Our partner company also attended to collect inspection photo's.
Mostly filmed on the trusty Inspire Pro with X5, some X3 and a little Sony A600.
2016 was a year of planning. This certainly took some planning! ROAVR provided aerial coverage of the event with a live feed option. We had to arrange all permissions, deconflict with some RAF Lossiemouth Typhoons and get approval from Inverness Airport.
It was a great event that we supported as a local business and we wish the project well for 2017 and beyond.
Fort George is a fantastic location. Enjoy this short trail for the 2017 show with some of our firework shots.
Back in March . - ROAVR popped over to Alford in Aberdeenshire to grab some aerial and ground footage for the playground manufacturer - HAGS as the site was opened for the local authority.
